After a whopping 27 seasons of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, we are pumped for Dancing With the Stars: Juniors, a spinoff of the traditional DWTS show that features DWTS pros as coaches, professional junior ballroom dancers (ages 9-13) as partners, and celebrity kids as the “stars!”  The celebrity kids cast includes Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, Black-ish star Miles Brown, General Hospital actor Hudson West, Scottie Pippen’s daughter Sophia Pippen, Stuck in the Middle actress Ariana Greenblatt, Sky Brown, Tripp Palin, Stevie Wonder son Mandla Morris, Jason Maybaum, Kenzie Ziegler from Dance Moms, Addison Osta Smith, and Akash Vukoti.  (It’s clear that some of these celebrity kids like Kenzie Ziegler have a definite advantage with their extensive dance training…We’ll have to see if the judges expect more from their performances because of this).  Other familiar faces on the show will be DWTS regulars like Cheryl Burke, Emma Slater, and Gleb Savchenko as coaches and a panel of celebrity judges including DWTS pro Val Chmerkovskiy, Emmy-winning choreographer Mandy Moore, and former mirror ball champion Adam Rippon.

DWTS: Juniors will deviate from the traditional show in another way—it will be pre-recorded.  Instead of a live taping with live voting, the entire season has actually already wrapped filming.  The dancers were scored by the judges and by the in-studio audience.  Perhaps season 2 of DWTS: Juniors will be live, but until then, we’re just excited to see some awesome dancing from some fierce kids our own age!
